Congress recently passed HR5297 – The Business Funding Bill and Jobs Act and on October 1st 2010 the SBA updated their underwriting guidelines; it is now easier to qualify for SBA government guaranteed financing, funds are available from $150,000 to $10 million and can be used for such purposes as: debt refinance, working capital, business purchases and the financing of most other business expenses. Under the new guidelines the SBA now defines a small business as having less than $5 million in net income and less than $15 million in net assets, nationwide there are more than 30 million “for profit” businesses that can qualify and benefit from these new programs.
